Amid the steep rise in Covid-19 cases in West Bengal , many parties including the Trinamool Congress and Congress urged the committee (EC) to re-consider its decision to stay to the first poll schedule. West Bengal Chief Minister And TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday urged EC to conclude the last three phases of state assembly polls on one day or a minimum of in two days to see the spread of Covid-19 to a particular extent. The BJP, however, said 2021 Bengal Election should be held as per the first schedule to make sure a level-playing field for all candidates.
Meanwhile, sources said the BJP is functioning out an amended campaign plan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal which can not be cover many days in sight of the rapid increase in coronavirus cases. Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had suspended his poll campaign in West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee had also curtail her election campaign in sight of the coronavirus situation.
