Goa Government cancels all permissions for film & TV shooting in Covid-19

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) cancelled all permissions granted for film & TV shooting within the state within the wake of the raging Covid-19 pandemic. ESG is that the Goa government’s nodal agency which is empowered to offer permission for commercial film & TV shooting within the state.

Several film and television serial makers from Mumbai and Chennai recently shifted their shootings to Goa thanks to the increase within the Covid-19 cases in these places. All permissions granted for film shootings in Goa have now been cancelled till things within the state comes in check . The crew of the films and television serials currently shooting in Goa have also been asked to finish up their schedules.

The government has enforced strict curbs, including imposition of Section 144 of CrPC, which bans assembly of 5 or more people at one place, thanks to which shootings can’t be permitted. The ESG will review its decision only after the Covid-19 situation is in check .

On Wednesday, Goa reported 3,496 new Covid-19 cases and 71 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 1,04,398 and therefore the price to 1,443, within the state as per official data.
