DMRC Updates Delhi Metro service remain suspended till May 17 morning

Delhi Metro rail services will remain temporarily suspended till 5 am on 17th May, thanks to the lockdown in Delhi which has been further extended.

The ongoing lockdown in Delhi coincided with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on sunday, may 17, announcing strict steps such as postponing the metro train service..

“We must remember ‘Jaan Hai Toh, Jahan Hai’… this indicates that the lockdown will be strict and hence Delhi Metro will not play from tomorrow . He said in a web briefing.

This is the primary time since the lockdown came into force on April 19 that the govt has suspended Metro services.

“In view of the revised guidelines issued by the government today. . of NCT of Delhi metro will also be suspended for passenger services on all its lines for the end of Delhi’s Covid-19 over the extension of curfew in Delhi, DMRC said on May 10 to 17 May till 5 AM during a tweet.

Last year the metro services were suspended in March when the Centre announced an entire lockdown within the country to regulate the explosion of Covid-19 cases. The services were resumed from September 7 during a phased opening under the central government’s Unlock 4 guidelines.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded 273 more coronavirus deaths, rock bottom since April 21, and 13,336 new infections. The positivity rate stood at 21.67 per cent, rock bottom since April 16 when it had been 19.7 per cent, consistent with the health department.
