India on June 10 reported record 6,148 COVID-19 deaths, a sudden jump from 2,219 deaths reported each day before on June 9, consistent with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

This is the very best number of COVID-19 fatalities reported in 24 hours in any country, so far, within the pandemic. The us of America had reported 5,444 daily COVID-19 deaths, a previous global record, on Lincoln’s Birthday .

India’s spike in daily infections has, however, been showing a downward trend and remained below one lakh for the third consecutive day on June 10.
