UP Panchayat 2021 : Former Miss India Finalist Shall Involve

LUCKNOW: UP’s panchayat elections, largest within the world with nearly seven lakh candidates, received a touch of glamour when 2015 Femina Miss India finalist Diksha Singh announced to contest the UP panchayat election from her native district, Jaunpur. lecture TOI, Diksha said that she would contest from Baksha ward of the district and would be filing her nomination paper on Sunday. Jaunpur goes to poll on April 15 and therefore the result would be announced on May 2 after four phases of polling. Diksha has already started campaigning in her ward.
A native of Chittori village of Jaunpur, Disha studied in Jaunpur till class III after which her parents moved to Mumbai then to Goa. She visited MES of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, Goa, for her graduation.

When she was within the second year in , Diksha participated within the Femina Miss India pageant in 2015. She was one of the 21 finalist and also the winner of a sub-competition ‘Miss Body Beautiful’.
Thereafter, she signed several modelling assignments and recently appeared in several videos, including one in February 2021. The UP girl has over two lakh followers on Instagram.

The announcement of the Village’s initiation to contest the election gave rise to rumors that she jumped into the fray on behalf of her father Jitendra Singh , Who wanted to contest, but the seat was reserved for female candidates, although her family denied it. “It is her independent decision and is driven by her desire to serve her native place,” said the proud father who runs his business in Goa and Rajasthan and believes that empowering women was the primary step toward real social change.

On the rationale for her decision, Diksha said: “The lifetime of people has not improved over the years. My native place remains under-developed. Whenever I came here, I felt that the place was stuck somewhere within the 1990s. I shall work for the people here and alter things .”
Diksha, who has studied politics and is into also , added that her recent visit to the interiors made her conclude that Jaunpur was yet to urge its due.

“Many cannot relate with things here. But I even have grown during this place which is sort of a scene from old classics like ‘Mother India’ and ‘Purab aur Paschim’ where misery and poverty drive the way. Women lead a restricted life and youngsters are forced to offer up their dreams,” said Diksha who has identified as education and ladies empowerment because the key issues to figure on.

Although she doesn’t have support of any party, she said that PM Narendra Modi was her model .
Social commentators and experts praised the girl’s move and described it as exemplary. “Covid-19 has changed the way many thought and saw life. the will to measure and calm down in big cities is being openly questioned by many and a few of them want to travel back to their roots,” said and social activist Abha Singh.
